About the role

We are looking for an experienced London-based Crowd Operations Manager to lead and orchestrate crowd flow across large-scale events, including festivals, conferences, and high-capacity live experiences.

This role plays a critical part in ensuring safe, structured, and seamless movement of thousands of attendees across multiple venues and program areas. The Crowd Operations Manager is responsible for designing and executing the overall crowd flow strategy, ensuring that people can move safely, efficiently, and intuitively throughout the event environment.

Working closely with production, security, venue management, and logistics teams, you will build and implement comprehensive crowd management solutions – from strategic planning through to real-time operational decision-making during the event.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in high-energy social environments, complex operational challenges, and real-time problem solving, and who has proven experience managing crowd operations at large-scale events.

The successful candidate is a strategic thinker, a confident operations leader, and someone who can remain calm and decisive even in high-pressure environments.

We expect you to bring

  • Proven experience in crowd management (event operations, festival operations)
  • Previous involvement in large-scale events, festivals or conferences
  • You have proven experience in the UK market with insight into local dynamics
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate large operational teams or volunteer groups

  • Strong situational awareness and ability to make fast operational decisions

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills

  • Experience with crowd flow planning and venue movement strategy

  • Ability to perform effectively in fast-paced and constantly changing environments

  • Strong logistical thinking and structured operational planning skills
  • Ability to collaborate closely with security, production, and venue teams
  • Excellent command of English (spoken and written)
  • Willingness to travel to Estonia for quick visits during the preliminary work and for the event live

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Crowd Flow Planning:

  • Design and plan crowd movement strategies across the entire event area
  • Map key circulation routes, gathering points, and potential congestion zones
  • Develop structured visitor flow strategies across different areas of the event
  • Create operational crowd flow plans for entries, exits, transitions, and peak movement periods

Building the Crowd Operations Framework:

  • Develop a comprehensive crowd management system for the event
  • Integrate crowd flow planning with security, logistics, and venue operations
  • Establish operational guidelines and processes for crowd management teams
  • Define clear roles, responsibilities, and reporting structures within the crowd operations team

Team Onboarding:

  • Brief and train the crowd management team
  • Align the team with event objectives, operational standards, and safety protocols
  • Lead front-line staff, volunteers, and directional staff responsible for guiding attendees
  • Maintain strong team motivation, focus, and coordination throughout the event lifecycle

Live Event Operations:

  • Manage crowd operations across multiple venues, zones, and event environments
  • Coordinate and monitor attendee movement in real time
  • Ensure safe, efficient, and comfortable circulation throughout the event
  • Maintain constant communication with security, production, and operations teams

Bottleneck and Flow Challenge Resolution:

  • Continuously monitor crowd density and movement patterns
  • Identify potential congestion points and safety risks early
  • Respond rapidly to crowd flow challenges as they arise
  • Implement operational solutions to redistribute or redirect attendee flows when necessary

Safety and Attendee Experience:

  • Ensure that all crowd management activities meet crowd safety and event safety standards
  • Maintain clear access routes, emergency pathways, and evacuation corridors
  • Support the development and implementation of emergency and evacuation planning
  • Contribute to creating a safe, smooth, and positive visitor experience
